Before we used Poison

A major breakthrough was the result of research conducted in both the UK and the US during the Second World War into the potential use of agents as biological weapons. The first modern herbicide 2, 4-D was first discovered.

In 1946 agricultural and chemical industries worked together to produce herbicides, weed killer and insecticides, the insect killer which triggered a world wide commercial use.

One Generation ago, before chemical use there was another method.

For generations, farmers and crop produces used healthy holistic methods to control weeds and insects organically. These crops feed their family and locals without the use of synthetic toxins and poisons that are on the shelves today.

Seeing the odd mark or nibble on your fruit is a welcoming sight, because at least you know there is no poison on the tissue of the apple you are about to digest.

Old School Gardening

How & Why Beneficial Gardening works

Surprisingly simple.

By selecting the right plants that radiate colour and aroma by using mixed edible herbs, native flowers and ground covers, with deep rooted plants, you will create confusion for insects that wish to munch on and damage your garden these same plants will confuse these insects with sight and smell masking,

All while Helpful insects like Ladybugs, Green Lacewings, Assassin Bugs, Birds, lizards, stingless bees will be drawn to your garden by these same plants.

These good insects and native fauna do all the hard work by pollinating your garden to produce flower and fruits, they live on and eradicate garden pest like mosquitoes, aphids, caterpillars, spiders and moths which damage the health and foliage of your garden; and this is all happening while you are having a sleep in on a sunday or at work.

By adding ground covers and small trees will soften the landscape, hold moisture in, suppress weeds, and add structure, texture while cooling and shading your home. Working with nature and not against will bring a beautiful ecological system, that will add real value to your property.

There are many good reasons why you should think about developing the simple ecology of a beneficial garden in your space over time.

Don't fight against Nature Work with it and find the balance again as we did one generation ago before the Chemical industries came into the commercial picture.

Solution: the balance of Nature.

The Shared Concern of the Insect People Entomology

Solution: the balance of Nature.

Surprisingly simple.

Just like Super bugs are evolving and pushing back against antibiotics in our bodies and hospital. The exact resistance is developing for insects ecology.

For example when Parents are purchasing off the shelf treatments for lice which have spread in their children hair, and the chemical treatments they are applying are not having a full effect in killing the lice. The lice and eggs are growing or hatching back to infect, the poor kids scalp again.

As one Entomologist said on ABC Radio National what I recommend for controlling infested lice in your child hair is a steel comb not plastic because steel work faster and smoother and cheap shampoo conditioner to paralyze the lice and just comb them out, don't attempted to purchase stronger poison and rub it into your child's head and scalp, just use good old elbow grease and comb the biters out.

Entomologist in the US are doing studies on the growing problem of resistance to chemical and toxins in insect world, which they have found that a very large number of insects that have markers for growing resistance against synthetic toxins and poisons.

So keep in mind that when you purchase Herbicides or Insecticides that the company haven't quietly increased the dose of poisonous ingredients, in your spray. To cope with the rising resistance to their products from insects and weeds.
