Naturally remove weeds, garden pest and fungicides. Without the use of toxins or poisons.
BENEFICIAL PLANTING
We offer a helping in hand in developing a sustainable garden over time with our nursery program Blossom and Bloom for color, scent, cool shad trees and food for the table.

GREENS REMOVED
On each visit we take a full bin of greens away with us.
Below are all these important practices that have been developed during 30 years.
These principles we offer are to achieve a balanced ecology, and sustainable garden.
MOWING
Mowing Heights
What we recommend and practice for lawn mowing:
Mowing height determines how healthy and attractive your lawn will look. The rule of thumb is to cut only 1/3 of the length of the leaf of your lawn. By cutting the lawn lower than the 1/3 rule you can cut the crown where the new shoots grow. This causes the lawn to spread out but tighten up and become water repellent over each short cut or scalping the lawn will only become stressed and weaken, which will only encourage weeds and disease in your lawn.
PRUNING
how much should I prune?
Plants love a good prune and when training, shaping and keeping your plants to a tidy size. If it is done right, the response is lots of fresh new healthy growth fruits and colours.
Use good quality sharp tools for good clean cut that are sterilized. Blunt tools can cause rugged damaged areas for pathogens to infect your plant. Oil and clean your tools regularly in order to prevent the spread of diseases between plants.
what to remove?
Cut out dead wood and suckers at the base of plants, crossing branches to prevent rubbing and open wounds for diseases to start breading. Allowing air and light into the plants space.
Seasonal timing is important for fruiting and flowering.
Always cut above the nodes
Long stems above the nodes has the potential to rot and die back and cause harm to the plant.
Aim to prune just above the node on a angle this will help to shed rain water. And We always give your plants a light feed of blood and bone pelleted manure with wetta soil, to give them a good start for the new growth and colours.
MULCHING
A good thick blanket of Mulch will keep the moisture in your garden, cool the root zone of your plants and suppress the weeds.
Before laying a bed of mulch it is a good opportunity to feed your plants with good organic matter and nutrients. Your wilting stressed plants will benefit on a stinking hot 36 degree day in summer.

- Helps control weed growth
- Reduces erosion
- Plant pathogens suppression
- Adds nutrients as it breaks down

- Helps control weed growth
- Reduces erosion

ORGANIC FERTILIZING
Exotic plants
Such as fruit trees, roses, hedges.
Wetting agent, blended manures sheep and cow, blood and bone & pelleted manures.
Troforte mineral enriched & Microbe coated.
Native plants
Such as native grasses, trees and wild flowers. Wetta agent, blood and bone (small amounts).
Troforte Native Mineral enriched & microbe coated.
Rock minerals when needed.
WEEDING
Weeding is the thorn in many a gardener's finger.
Broken soil, sunlight and rain are the drivers for fertility in weeds growing.
why are there so many weedS?
Each time we pull out weeds, microscopic perl like seeds drop from the root fibers. Weeds wont just drop one seed for it's defense, but many seeds to increase it's odds of survival. One weed can grow into 5 to 10 weeds. This is the weeds' mechanism to properagate and this does not include the seeds that are air born from the floral head of the weed.
solution
Organic spraying will break down the weeds tissue kills off the roots and seeds before we remove them. Which will stop the cycle of weeds.
Try not to disturb the the top soil or crust of the soil when removing weeds. Once you break the crust of the soil you encourage other seeds to find a moist place to propagate in and grow.
To grow vegetables we cultivate, till and break the soil surface and plant the seeds we want grow. The same principle applies for seeds from weeds, break the soil and the weeds have a moist bed to grow in.
Once the weeds are truly dead and looking like straw. Remove dead weeds by rake over gentle to remove the dead foliage.
Or whipper snipe the dead weeds without disturbing the surface as much as possible.
short term solution
Mulching.
As it covers the ground, it is a solution.
However thick mulch will not stays there forever. Especially if you are living near a windy coastal area, it will last about 2 years less.
Long Term Solution
Planting correct colorful ground covers and small trees will smoother weeds, soften your landscape, balance your garden and add real value to your home for if,or when you sell!
Stones and pebbles will last the life time of the home and do the same job as mulch.
